Sample Trial: At the Beginning
A study researcher will ask you about your medical history and examine you. You will be assigned to receive either Drug X or Drug Y, and a placebo (a drug that looks the same but does not contain active medication). Each day that you are in the study, you will take two tablets of a study drug, one tablet from Bottle A, and one tablet from Bottle B. You should take these tablets at around the same time each day. You and your study doctor do not know which study drug you are receiving. In an emergency, information about what drug you are taking can be obtained quickly from the study sponsor.
